The appellation of this nascent blog, Il Piano, is homage to the incredible trove of intellectual ideas and literary allusions originally entitled Il pendolo di Foucault, a 1988 novel by Italian professor and philosopher Umberto Eco. Il Piano, or the Plan, is a central theme of the story, and encompasses a wealth of witty analysis and commentary that we can only hope to emulate here. #
